Sandcastle

作曲Pete Brown
It was the greatest little sandcastle
We built it at night
When the sea digests its ice cream cartons
Though the tide, yes, the tide was coming in

Gave it a moat and a high drawbridge
We built it so right
To keep out the newspapers and raiders
Though the tide, yes, the tide was coming in

Gave it a rock for a foundation
It fitted so tight
But then you asked me, "Is it Colditz Castle?"
Well, I answered, "Jerusalem"
I said I answered, "Jerusalem"

Then took the best day in my entire life
To the hospital
Put it on the operating table
And the tide, yes, the tide was going out

Now I'm alone on this seafront
It's the end of the summer
At my hotel I read the good old Times
Between the lines of my head

Walking sad past the deserted fun fare
Where it used to be
Chatting up the naked ladies and the tide
Chatting up the naked ladies and the tide

It was the greatest little sandcastle
We built it at night
When the sea digests its ice cream cartons
Though the tide, yes, the tide
Oh, the tide was coming in
